Pharmacotherapeutic group

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents

Pharmacological properties

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, a derivative of propionic acid. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic action. The mechanism of action of the drug is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis at the level of cyclooxygenase.
In addition, ketoprofen inhibits lipoxygenase, has antibrady-kinin activity stabilizes lysosomal membrane, causes a significant inhibition of neutrophil activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
A marked analgesic effect of ketoprofen is due to two mechanisms: the peripheral (indirectly, through inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis) and central (due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central and peripheral nervous system).
There is evidence of the stimulating effect of the drug on the formation of endogenous interferon and its ability to exert immunomodulatory effects and improve the rate of nonspecific resistance of the organism.
