Code ATC:

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Antibiotics (a group of cephalosporins).

Pharmacological properties

Spectrum antimicrobial action includes most clinically relevant pathogens, including gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus, St. epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Str. Pyogenes, Str. agalactiae; Gram-negative microorganisms: Bordetella pertussis, Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., E. coli, Haemophilus influenzae(including β-lactamase-producing), Klebsiella spp., Morganella morganii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, (including β-lactamase-producing), N. meningitidis, Providencia spp. Proteus mirabilis, P. vulgaris., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., Serratia spp. (including S. marcescens), Shigella spp., Yersinia enterocolitica; anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., Peptostreptococcus spp., Peptococcus spp., Veillonella spp.

Indications for use

Bacterial infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary and biliary tract and abdominal infections (peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, etc.), sepsis, meningitis, skin and soft tissue, bone and joint infections, infectious and inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs (endometritis , gonorrhea, and other reproductive tract infections).
The drug is also used for the prevention of infectious complications after surgery.

Side effects

Gastro-intestinal: nausea, vomiting, pseudomembranous colitis.
Allergic reactions: urticaria, pruritus.
Blood system: reducing the number of neutrophils. Prolonged treatment (and other beta-lactam antibiotics) may develop reversible neutropenia. In some patients during treatment were positive Coombs. There is also a decrease in hemoglobin and hematocrit. Observed transient eosinophilia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia, and hypoprothrombinemia.
Laboratory parameters: transient increase in liver function tests - AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin in the blood serum.
Other: fever, rarely - deficiency of vitamin K, in place of i/v in the introduction - phlebitis.

Contra indications

Increased sensitivity to cephalosporins and other β-lactam antibiotics.
Used with caution during pregnancy, lactation, with liver and kidney failure.

Drugs interaction

Avoid oral administration of solutions containing ethanol.
When using Fehling's or Benedict's solution may be a false-positive reaction for glucose in the urine. Solutions Novoperazon and aminoglycosides should not be mixed directly, given the pharmaceutical incompatibility between them.
If combination therapy is conducted Novoperazon and aminoglycoside, the two drugs are administered by infusion using serial separate secondary catheters, and the primary catheter washed adequate solution between doses of drugs. The intervals between the administration of Novoperazon and aminoglycoside during the day should be as large as possible.

Special instructions

A wide range of action of the drug allows monotherapy most infections. However the drug can also be used in combination therapy, in combination with other antibiotics, if such treatment is indicated. With care given in severe biliary obstruction, severe liver disease associated with impaired renal function. In the latter case, monitoring of serum concentrations of Novoperazon and correction of the dose (if monitoring is not carried out, the daily dose of Novoperazon should not exceed 2 g.) Novoperazon, as well as other antibiotics, can lead to a deficiency of vitamin K. Patients should abstain from alcohol during treatment Novoperazon. The product should be stored out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date.
