Pharmacological properties

It is antibiotic of aminoglycosides group. It acts bacteriostatical by inhibiting protein synthesis by ribosomes of bacteria. It has high activity against gram-negative aerobic bacteria – Escherichia coli, Shigella, Salmonella, Enterobacteriaceae, Klebsiella, Proteus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The drug is also active against gram-positive aerobic cocci – Staphylococcus (including those, which are resistant to penicillin), some strains of streptococci. Treponema pallidum, meningococci, and anaerobic microorganisms are resistant to the drug.

 

Indications for use

Treatment of bacterial infections: pyelonephritis, cystitis, pneumonia, pleural empyema, peritonitis, sepsis, meningitis, pyogenic infections of skin and soft tissues, infections of wounds and burns, etc., caused by microorganisms susceptible to the drug.
